After a bit of a search, this thread seemed right to post this in,
"Aw shit, we got the wrong game. Everybody switch games! We're playing superheros now!"
"From the people who brought you the Stick of Truth..... "
(Well, actually different people but that doesn't sound as good as an intro)
"... But who cares about fantasy any more? No, all the kids are into superheroes now. It’s not Stick of Truth 2, then, but South Park: The Fractured but Whole."
“In South Park: The Fractured but Whole, players will delve into the crime-ridden underbelly of South Park with Coon and Friends. This dedicated group of crime fighters was formed by Eric Cartman whose superhero alter-ego, The Coon, is half man, half raccoon. As the New Kid, players will join Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite, Mosquito, Mint Berry Crunch and a host of others to battle the forces of evil while Coon strives to make his team the most beloved superheroes in history.”
Voiceover: "Now available for pre-order."
Butters (sarcastic): "Yeah, everyone pre-order. That's a good idea."
While I personally have no idea why anyone running Win 8 would not upgrade to Win 8.1, if you haven't, then you are not entitled to a free Win 10 upgrade. I'm simply pointing out the actual upgrade rules, rather than whatever fantasy world you choose to live in.......
I work with these rules everyday, logic and common sense plays no part in their application, only the M$ legal teams EULA choices are relevent. And they say, Win 8, no upgrade.
New Zealander Earl Bamber has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and in doing so emulated the last great Kiwi victory of Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren in 1966. This event is regarded as one of the hardest and most difficult long distance endurance races to finish, let lone win.
Not only did Bamber emulate a great win at the oldest sports car endurance race in the world, fellow Kiwi Brendon Hartley, along with Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard, crossed the line in second. When Amon and McLaren won, another Kiwi Denny Hulme too followed them home.
And, I do believe that Haydon Paddon and John Kennard got a second in the latest WRC round...
And, what a phuq up, it took another Kiwi to save the organisers from looking like total tossers......
Rally Italy Sardinia organisers were almost left red-faced for not having a New Zealand flag on hand following Hayden Paddon historic second-placing overnight.
Rally organisers obviously weren't expected Paddon to finish on the podium and didn't have a flag ready for the podium presentation.
It wasn't until a New Zealand fan came to the rescue to ensure Paddon and co-driver John Kennard were properly represented on the surrounding flag poles.
And here's Haydon in training winning the 2015 NZ Rally Otago with a 30 yr old BDA Escort against the likes of Ken Block and Alister McRae. And the NZ Rally drivers etc.... Watch and enjoy...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqx9cH_r9ig
As a PS*, Xboxxy, controller based game it looks awesome.
Meanwhile if you run a PC and want a sim, this still looks promising and Codemasters seem to be trying hard to give a 'real' game. They've done it in the past, I'm looking forward to see how this develops. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbLiZSY1n4M
No, they've just decided to do an Apple. Win 10 is FREE for 12 months from 29 July 2015, IF you run (generally*) any version of Win 7 or Win 8.1. Then, there will be no further versions of Windoze, only upgrades to your current system.
Disclaimer; Yeah right !, that's what they are saying now, I personally believe this will change 'SOMETIME' in the future !
Home will convert to 10 Home, Pro will convert to 10 Pro. Is it worth it ?, if you run 8, absolutely. It's certainly better and they even have done a Classic Shell fix, the Start menu is back. Still not as good as Start with 7 but much better than 8.1.
The test versions are still not there but they are getting there.
IMPORTANT: DON'T UPGRADE AN IMPORTANT PC ON DAY 0. Seriously, there will be issues so let some other Noddy find out what doesn't work first before you find something is broken in your world.
* Like, RT versions, Ultimate, Win 8, Vista, Xp, (Pirate versions of 7/8.1 seem vague ATM, check interwebby...) etc etc are not included. Check out the interwebby for details. And yes, 10 runs on low end devices better than 7 or 8.1. A number of people get it working on Pentium 4's.
Wait you can do this? How do I do this?
My cheapo system, SFF HP8000, E8400 Core 2 Duo, 2 x 2 Terrabyte HD, Win 7 Pro, 8 GIG DDR3, 2x Hauppauge TV cards, ATI 5450, NZ Freeview terrestrial aerial. Plus external 3 TB HD, NAS will follow when needed with my movie collection.
Run media player on pro, picks up the Hauppauge cards, tune into freeview, simple as that. It allows you to record TV and save as a standard video file rather than the NZ Freeview rule that Freeview certified devices can only playback recordings on themselves and must encrypt their recordings. ( Yes, this is retarded but these were the rules our Govt decided on .......)
Because this is not Freeview certified it doesn't need to obey the pointless rules.
This also lets you play and store movies, Run Lightbox* and On Demand with the same device, plus game play Run VLC for movies, and if you want to stream to other devices, have a play with VLC's menu options.....
* Yeah, but its free if your a krapS (WTF, Who approved this name change ???) customer and Vikings, Dr Who, Orange...., Top Gear, Outlander, Partner stuff...., Grandchildren stuff, etc etc ...
I'm playing with Kobe and Next, this gives an EPG that Media player doesn't but it's nowhere near as simple, still not fully working ATM, ( Need to book in time to work on the box cus Partner wants to watch ... ) It will be better eventually but Media Player simply just worked with no effort .....
I expect in time it will be much better, but with a lot more development and setup, Kobe lets you use the iPad as a remote, once I can integrate Lightbox and On Demand websites within Kobe it will be awesome. Just many hours of setup......
But, once this is working, this system will sell..........
English is a weird* language ?
(English Rule; 'I' before 'E', except after 'C') Exceptions, 93 pages follow.............
http://www.economist.com/blogs/johnson/2012/07/language-and-computers
"... here are also direct analogies between natural language and computer code. Well-written code is light on the computer's memory, and runs smoothly; well-written prose is easy on the reader's working memory, and reads easily. Badly written code will cause errors in execution; badly written prose can cause errors in interpretation. Some people will never learn to write. Some will never learn to code."
"Last week I was at the CSTA Computer Science & Information Technology conference in New York City. One of the great thing about events like this is the hallway conversations that just happen. When you get a lot of interesting people together the conversations are interesting by default. I had one such conversation with Dave Reed, computer science faculty at Creighton University and past Chief Reader of the Advanced Placement Computer Science exam. We started by talking about programming by people whose language is not English. The keywords they use are, for almost all languages, in English. Comments, variables, user written classes and methods though are in their own language. How confusing might that be? Dave has used a program written in German in some of his classes and asked students to explain what is going on from context. That’s an interesting exercise for sure. On the other hand why not translate the keywords?"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/alfredth/archive/2011/07/21/why-are-all-programming-languages-in-english.aspx
"Many years ago I heard Grace Hopper talk about an early compiler. As I recall they wrote this sample compiler and finished it before it was due. They thought about the fact that keywords are really just symbolic so why not make them in other languages. They wound up adding support for several languages into the compiler. Unfortunately the committee who reviewed the final project thought that was far to complicated to actually work and concluded the demo was faked. Ah, the early days on computers when people really didn’t understand what they could do. To this day compilers seem to only understand keywords in one language and that language is almost always English.
It is not just Americans or even other English as a first language speakers who are doing this. Niklaus Wirth who designed PASCAL among other languages was Swiss. No doubt he could have used any one of several other natural languages but he used English. Off hand I don’t know of programming languages that use non English keywords. If there are some, and there must right, they don’t appear to be common. Anyone know any?"
After reading the above, are you running a laptop ? It's just that in one sentence you mentioned 'onboard graphics'.
Make, model etc if you are running a lappy will help. If it's a desktop, Motherboard, etc, etc, etc,.........
Please give this.
ALSO, DX9, is that FULLY installed. Every other game you have mentioned is later. Often, not actually fully installing DX9 fully can cause this. https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Well, hopefully it wasn't the post above that got you banned, after looking at your history, it must have been AWESOMELY good
Yeah, for the benefit of our newer members, LFS has very low requirements when it comes to graphics and graphics cards requirements, LFS is processor based, but ONLY single core, there is no multi core support.
Simply put, a pentium 4 3.0+ is fine for LFS, IF it's just dedicated to the game. So, use that to build a game only rig with a 1/4 way decent video card, chair, wheel, fluffy dice, then your sorted.
If you play ANY later racing game, then a Core 2+ (Core 2 quad) is fine for racing games. I'm running a 3.2 Xeon on a 775 board with a GTX560. Works fine for all racing (actually, works fine for Witcher 3, plus, etc,) games.
I'm about to upgrade to a GTX970, (Sold a child ! ), this setup will work with nearly all current games. Yes, an O/C i5/i7 will be faster, but not by a great deal in the real world ........
Very few games push the processor, LFS only wants decent single core action. POSSIBLY, it may be updated to multicore, sometime, maybe, perhaps........
As the bible pointed out to Jews, Christians, and Muslems. A Whale ate Jonah, Whilst Orca's haven't eaten anyone.....
Orcas are powerful predators capable of killing prey much larger than humans, such as leopard seals and great white sharks. They have also been recorded preying on usually terrestrial species such as moose swimming between islands.[1] However, wild orcas are not considered a real threat to humans, as there are few documented cases of wild orcas attacking people, and no fatal encounters.[2][3] In captivity, however, there have been several non-fatal and fatal attacks on humans since the 1970s.[4] Experts are divided as to whether the injuries and deaths were accidental or deliberate attempts to cause harm.[5][6] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_whale_attacks_on_humans
I'm sure no Orca would want to be called a 'pikey' or a 'slope', any more than I would want to be called a Ginga, these are all highly offensive phrases to human persons, as such is 'Whale' to non human persons, given it's clear offensive human connotations.....
Given recent actions on Reddit and the BBC that are clearly focused on us all becoming SJW and being fully aware of how we should behave regarding both human and species personal choice, I'm sure the forum will embrace the free will of Orca to be identified as such......
My advice is, if (as) you have just brought a licence you pm the dev's with the fact you want to run a LAN, and what can they do to let this happen.
Naturally, the Devs will respond with "#" or "&". Take it from there....
Personally, as a user for the last 10 years I'd like to think they would give you an affirmative answer. Particually given that I get no money for saying this but they (the Devs) could sell several licences based on their answer.
Please share your response.
and, actually this.......
The original joke TBH, Sabine really appeals to me, fast, smart, fast, nice accent, fast, (sexist comment), fast, very cute, why is she so low in the poll ?
Seriously, WTF, why do more people find James May sexier as a women in motorsport than Sabine ?
Ok, maybe it's just me..........
And here's your poster boy.....
Yup, definately my issue...
Tropico 5 reference
And, on the positive relationship side, she would be great to talk to in bed about the best lines around the Ring
Win/Win.
This is a lap of the "Green Hell" with Sabine Schmitz on the 5th of September 2010. It was great to have Sabine as our driver, and a huge thanks to her and BMW RingTaxi for the thrill of being driven at high speed on a track that takes many years to learn. We had so much fun, and highly recommend it to anyone going to Germany, that likes the Nurburgring, and isn't game enough to bring their own car, or hire a track day car.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun, on whats being removed from Win 10
"It seems as though the most drastic feature to be dropped this time around is actually just ye olde Windows Media Center. Likewise, long-standing stalwarts Minesweeper and Solitaire will also be taken out albeit repackaged in some form, proving their complete removal from our universe is as unlikely their removal of from my heart. Did you know I once played nothing but Solitaire for three months? I wasn’t even stuck in a Turkish prison or anything.
Well, actually I use Win Media Player with Win 7 Pro on one of my PC's to provide NZ Freeview TV with (a) suitable Hauppauge card(s).
Given Hobbitvilles pathetic licencing regarding our 'Freeview', this is such a no brainer choice for watching and recording TV it's 'THE' IT choice here......
Looks like going fully Linux is the best choice post 2020............
Win 10 is a 'free*' update if you run certain versions of Win 7 or Win 8.1. ( NOT WIN 8 !!! )
Apparently Win 10 can be re-installed from an update and doesn't require a key. # (Yes, TBA)
The free update cycle for upgrades to Win 10 runs for 12 months from 29 July 2015.
If you want to remove the Win 10 update notification icon, uninstall update KB3035583.
The whole licence thing is yet another M$oft flustecluck, like so much of their product licencing base.
Sorry for the cynical attitude but I'm into hour 13 of a conversation with M$ about M$'s licencing and what's actually legal with virtualisation .........
As much as the whole thing pisses me off, cus I'm set up to provide this, I just can't legally as there are M$ rules to follow, and I'm buggered if I'll let some other Co act illegally to provide a service that legally I can't. So, ATM I have some 'Misc Co' that I've setup to get seriously audited by M$ for lying to one of my clients about how awesome DaaS is and how so easy it is to achieve ....
Don't try to steal my clients scum......
I have Dell and HP on my sad side
Logically I really agree with what this co is offering, but legally I can't provide this, so neither can they !
French paper Midi Libre reports the crash happened a little after 4:30am French time in the department of Herault along the highway near Béziers on the way to the city of Montpellier.
The Herald understands Ms Madill was driving at the time of the crash and Collins was in the backseat.
Their baby daughter has been taken to Montpellier hospital in a critical condition.
Collins had been in Canet-en-Roussillon attending a testimonial banquet for Samoan rugby player Henry Tuilagi who plays for Perpignan.
Like his rugby, his opinions were direct and delivered with some feeling. He toned them down for the electronic media but when he was engaged with the newspaper scribblers, Collins would surge into his work.
His sentences were spiked with expletives as he challenged you to quote him with or without his earthy language.
There were no clauses, no sub-sections to his thoughts. Just like his footy, he gave his opinion right between your eyes. Sometimes you felt it was another game the husky-voiced Collins was playing.
A GPU is generally referring to a discrete add on card, whilst an IGC is always referring to Intel processor based graphics. As indeed do Intel themselves, see above.
Whilst both are strictly speaking GPU's, it clarifies matters to split the Intel processor based IGC's from the discrete card based GPU's.
Here's PC world on the subject..." Champions for discrete graphics usually tout one major benefit: performance. All but the lowest-end video card will have a far more powerful GPU than what you’ll find inside a CPU. What’s more, the card will provide its GPU with a dedicated pool of high-speed memory. An integrated GPU, in contrast, must share both system memory and the data bus. You can usually crank up a game’s visual quality settings with a discrete GPU, and it will still run circles around integrated graphics." http://www.pcworld.com/article/2139341/tested-why-almost-every-pc-could-use-a-video-card-upgrade.html
Why does your Civic claim VTEC rather than 'adjustable valve timing' ?.
Basicly, if you would rather game with an intergrated graphics controller rather than an add on card, good luck and have fun.
Edit: The above is only discussing Intel based IGC systems, NOT AMD's APU system which is different again and will only lead to more confusion discussion .....
But, back on topic re DX12. Win 10 is out 29 July and it's free if you run 7 or 8.1 (NOT 8) and that gives you DX12, Candycrush and Clippy, so I expect most people will get the untold joy of DX12 then
Check out our Kea if you want an intelligent non human animal.
"Kea can solve logical puzzles, such as pushing and pulling things in a certain order to get to food, and will work together to achieve a certain objective.[5] They have been filmed preparing and using tools.[6]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kea
"Their curiosity leads them to peck and carry away unguarded items of clothing or to pry apart rubber parts of cars — to the entertainment and annoyance of human observers. They are often described as "cheeky". A kea has even been reported to have made off with a Scottish man's passport while he was visiting Fiordland National Park.[25]"
Usually they are more the Jeremy Clarkson of the animal world, "F the Police !"
"Animal intelligence isn’t a single thing. There is no standard IQ test for them to sit, and no universal checklist of skills to score them against. Instead, animals have evolved mental abilities to cope with different lifestyles and environments. Many early studies into animal intelligence simply looked at whether animals could or couldn’t perform specific tasks. But it’s far more interesting to see why and how they do different things, and how their own particular brand of intelligence has evolved.
That’s why Auersperg, along with Alex Kacelnik from the University of Oxford, decided to work with two of the planet’s brainiest birds – not to pit them against each other, but to understand how they differ."
"Keas are notoriously inquisitive and attracted to new things. In its native New Zealand, it uses it beak to explore (and destroy) everything from nests to picnic baskets to windshield wipers. All of Auersperg’s keas immediately (and violently) explored all four openings in the box, pulling, tearing, scratching and probing at them. “They seemed to approach the apparatus in a playful, toddler-like manner,” she says. Most of them tried to overturn the box, which Auersperg had to nail to the floor. One of them, Luke, even broke the Plexiglas."
Actual example to stop the bitchfest. The Witcher 3 on GOG has no lockdown. Buy it, install where ever, thats where the 'Piracy' versions come from, yet, if you look online. People are buying their versions cus.....
And according to 'some' people here, stopping piracy is really important......
In my opinion, stuff will always be stolen. If it's actually good and offers more for a paid for version, Then it will be brought and people will race online.....
Key point, the pirates are stealing Witcher 3 and not caring about online.
The concept isn't rocket science.
My thought is, Offer lots on demo, ignore piracy, offer the full game with online servers.....
Ummmmm, isn't that already the plan ???????
So, lets get the legal online servers offering new (post 2010) content ............
